About Us
We are breeders of beautiful handfed baby parrots, and take great pride in the love and dedication we offer our babies and breeding flock. We have been involved in aviculture for nearly 30 years. All our babies are domestic bred, closed banded, and are offered as delightful pets or future breeders. They are all well socialized with people, children and dogs. They are raised with their own species and other avian species.
We are nestled in a beautiful and unique country setting in the foothills of Northern California, just off highway 50 East. We grow an organic garden enabling us to supply our birds with lots of fresh veggies and a variety of fruit from our orchard.
I have always had a deep love for all animals and a special passion for birds. Even after all the years I have raised parrots, I am still fascinated with them and how much there is still to learn from them.
We have acquired a collection of over 25 different species of healthy parrots, and operate under the “Closed Aviary” concept. Simply stated, this means that “birds can only go out of our aviary, not in”.
All of our established breeding pairs have been tested for various diseases (PBFD, Polyoma, Psittacosis). Any new additions to our breeding flock are fully tested and quarantined for 90 days minimally. If you are picking up your baby and you already have birds at home, a change of clothing before coming to our babies would be appreciated. To insure the safety and privacy of our breeding flock, we do not allow anyone to tour the aviaries. This allows us to keep the stress levels down on the breeding flock, producing the healthiest babies possible.
Our Breeders
Our breeding facility is comprised of several enclosed buildings to protect our breeding flock from predators. While protected, they receive ample natural light and supplemental full-spectrum lighting. We provide plenty of toys and various types of perching to enrich the lives of our flock.
Our Diets
We feed our breeding flock a multi-grain bean mix along with mixed veggies, pasta, brown rice, and fruits. Pellets are available at all times and a small amount of a light seed mix is given daily as a treat.
Incubation
Whenever possible we let the parents incubate and feed their babies for the first three weeks after hatching. When this is not possible we will incubate the eggs ourselves and hand feed from day one.
